Auron Therapeutics makes a tablet medicine, AUTX-703, that breaks down two proteins some cancers depend on to stay in an aggressive state. It is in an early trial for acute myeloid leukaemia and myelodysplastic syndrome that has come back or not responded to treatment.
Auron Therapeutics, based in Newton, Massachusetts, targets cell-state plasticity in cancer and inflammatory disease. Its AURIGIN platform combines a proprietary single-cell genomic database with AI and machine-learning tools to compare healthy and diseased cell states and to pick targets, models and biomarkers. The lead candidate AUTX-703 is a first-in-class oral degrader of KAT2A and KAT2B; the company names acute myeloid leukaemia, small cell lung cancer and neuroendocrine prostate cancer as its initial indications of interest. The FDA cleared its IND in early 2025 and granted Fast Track designation for relapsed or refractory AML in February 2025, and the company announced the first patient dosed in the phase 1 trial in advanced haematological malignancies on 30 May 2025. Its first registered cancer trial, NCT06846606, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in February 2025. In February 2025 it completed a USD 27 million Series B led by DCVC Bio, with Apollo Health Ventures, Arkin Bio Ventures, BrightEdge (the investment arm of the American Cancer Society), Casdin Capital, Franklin Berger, Mubadala Capital, Polaris Partners and Qiming Venture Partners USA.
