German Breast Group (GBG)

The German Breast Group, based in Neu-Isenburg, is the academic group whose Gepar trials established carboplatin and neoadjuvant strategies in triple-negative breast cancer; it was founded in 1997 and is associated with Gunter von Minckwitz and Sibylle Loibl. GeparSixto showed carboplatin raises pathologic complete response rates in TNBC, GeparNuevo tested durvalumab, GeparDouze followed, and its meta-analyses of pathologic complete response as a surrogate endpoint shaped how neoadjuvant trials are designed, with Carsten Denkert also linked. OnCo connects it to carboplatin and durvalumab, to the pCR term, and to partner groups including the NSABP Foundation. Whether pCR reliably predicts long-term benefit for every drug class is the question its own surrogacy work keeps open. Its Gepar series and pCR research programmes are listed in the notes.
