The Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology, based in Chicago, is the US cooperative group formed in 2011 from CALGB, ACOSOG and NCCTG, and a member of the NCI National Clinical Trials Network. Its trials include CALGB 40603, which tested carboplatin in triple-negative breast cancer, Z0011, which showed sentinel node biopsy could replace axillary dissection in selected patients, and A012103, the OptimICE-pCR trial asking whether TNBC patients with a pathologic complete response still need a year of pembrolizumab; ATOMIC and CABINET are also in OnCo, with Alan P. Venook and Evanthia Galanis among the people linked. OnCo connects it to bottlenecks on slow enrolment and the exclusion of older patients, and to ideas for a permanent surgical trials network.
