Overview
Founded in 1989 as the Trans Tasman Radiation Oncology Group and based in Newcastle, New South Wales, TROG is the cooperative group for radiation oncology across Australia and New Zealand. TROG 96.01 established short-course androgen deprivation with radiotherapy for locally advanced prostate cancer, CHISEL (TROG 09.02) showed stereotactic ablative radiotherapy beats conventional radiotherapy in inoperable early lung cancer, and TROG 12.01 tested de-escalation with cetuximab in HPV-positive oropharyngeal cancer. It co-ran PORTEC-3 in endometrial cancer and runs quality-assurance programmes for radiotherapy trials. TROG partners with ANZUP, AGITG and Breast Cancer Trials on multimodality studies.
