A bivalent HPV vaccine made in China by Xiamen Innovax, prequalified by WHO in October 2021, the earlier of the two Chinese HPV vaccines on WHO's list.
WHO's list of prequalified vaccines carries Cecolin (Xiamen Innovax Biotech Co. Ltd., regulated by China's National Medical Products Administration) as a bivalent human papillomavirus vaccine in a single-dose vial, prequalified on 14 October 2021. A nine-valent successor, Cecolin 9, was authorised in China in May 2025 (see that record).
Recombinant HPV L1 capsid proteins form virus-like particles that train the immune system to make antibodies against the HPV types the vaccine covers.
