Overview
The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is a specialist NHS cancer trust with sites in Liverpool city centre, Wirral (Clatterbridge) and Aintree, providing non-surgical cancer treatment for Cheshire, Merseyside and surrounding areas. Its Wirral site has run the UK's first proton beam therapy service, for ocular tumours, since 1989, and its purpose-built Liverpool hospital opened in 2020 next to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and the University of Liverpool. The trust delivers radiotherapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, haemato-oncology and CAR-T, hosts the Liverpool Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre with the university, and is a member of the Liverpool Health Partners academic health science system.
