Gerhardt Attard
London oncologist who helped develop abiraterone and led the STAMPEDE analysis showing that two years of abiraterone alongside hormone therapy and radiotherapy improves survival in high-risk localised prostate cancer.
Overview
Gerhardt Attard is a medical oncologist at the UCL Cancer Institute who worked on the early clinical development of abiraterone at The Institute of Cancer Research. He was first author of the 2022 Lancet report of the STAMPEDE platform's combined analysis, which showed that adding abiraterone (with or without enzalutamide) to androgen deprivation therapy improved metastasis-free and overall survival in high-risk non-metastatic prostate cancer. His laboratory studies androgen receptor genomics and plasma DNA in prostate cancer.
