William G. Wierda
Led CAPTIVATE, which established fixed-duration ibrutinib plus venetoclax as a first-line option for CLL.
Overview
William Wierda was principal investigator of CAPTIVATE, the trial showing fixed-duration ibrutinib plus venetoclax produces high rates of undetectable MRD and durable remissions in untreated CLL and led to its approval in Europe, and led the MRD-guided cohort of that study. He chairs the NCCN CLL guidelines panel and helped develop the MD Anderson prognostic nomogram for CLL.
