Scalp cooling
A cold cap worn during chemotherapy that reduces hair loss by narrowing blood vessels in the scalp.
DigniCap and Paxman are FDA-cleared; roughly half of patients on taxane-based regimens keep at least 50% of their hair. Less effective with anthracyclines. Reimbursement remains inconsistent.
How it works
Vasoconstriction reduces drug delivery to hair follicles.
- Meaningful quality-of-life benefit
- Cost, discomfort, variable efficacy
