Verdinexor (Laverdia) is a tablet for dogs with lymphoma, the first oral lymphoma treatment for dogs to gain full approval from the US Food and Drug Administration. It works the same way as the human myeloma drug selinexor.
Laverdia (verdinexor tablets) was conditionally approved by the FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine in January 2021 through the Minor Use/Minor Species pathway and, after four annual renewals, received full approval under NADA 141-614 (Freedom of Information Summary dated 18 December 2025; FDA update of 16 January 2026), sponsored by Anivive Lifesciences, Inc., of Long Beach, California, for the treatment of lymphoma in dogs. The starting dose is 1.25 mg/kg by mouth twice a week, at least 72 hours apart, given with food.
In the field study of dogs with naive or relapsed B-cell or T-cell lymphoma (106 treated, 28 controls), median time to progression was 37 days (95% CI 29 to 57) with verdinexor against 23 days (14 to 30) in controls (P = 0.011). Verdinexor was studied as KPT-335 and blocks the same exporter, XPO1, as the human drug selinexor. It is a veterinary medicine and has no human approval.
A selective inhibitor of nuclear export that blocks chromosome region maintenance 1 (exportin 1, XPO1), keeping tumour suppressor and growth regulatory proteins in the nucleus where they control cell growth; the same mechanism as the human drug selinexor. Connects to Exportin-1 (XPO1).
1.Cancer cells pump growth-controlling proteins out of the nucleus through the exporter XPO1
